Thoughts at the turn of the year

About a year ago, it is now, as I sat here and let the past year pass in review and wondered what I had the intentions for now implemented. The honest answer: Not many.

Now another year is approaching its end and it is time again to pause a little and reflect on what has brought this year.

No, I will not write now about economic developments, disasters, school shootings and similar themes. I shall confine myself to a few words about my hobby.

Just in time for Christmas

Today early in the morning there was a ring at the front door. Very sleepy (yesterday it was a long movie night with the season finale of the series "Falling Skies") I opened the door. Before me was, however, not Santa Claus. No, it was the postman handed giving me a package in my hand. Finally, after weeks of waiting, I got my delivery. It contained, among other things, this figure sets. At one set (Brunswick Cavalry) it seems I'll have to wait a bit.

The following sets have been delivered to me:

    • HäT 8175 - Württemberg Cavalry
    • HäT 8197 - Napoleonic Prussian Hussars
    • HäT 8297 - Napoleonic Mounted Officers
    • HäT 8304 - Napoleonic British Command

Nothing new on my model-builder front

Since you have started countless projects with a lot of enthusiasm and effort and instead to complete one of these projects, you start another one. Then you sit there and would prefer to do everything at once, but this is unfortunately not possible. And if then the other interests make another spanner in the works, you get even more did not.

Yes, life as a model-builder may already be tedious and frustrating.

Austrian Infantry 28mm - WIP - Part 3

Today I show you only a little update of my 28mm Austrian Infantry from Victrix.

I doesn't work on this project for a long time, but now I have finished some heads. On the photos I see some points I have to rework before I glue the heads to the bods.

For me, the heads are very good sculpted and I had much fun painting the faces.

Württemberg Musketeer

After a little pause ( I was a little bit busy with things from our social club ) I painted this figure as a  little finger exercise to stay in training.

The figure comes from the Hät 1/32 range and belongs to the set 9309 - Württemberg Musketeers. The box contains 18 figures in 6 different poses.

The Musketeer is painted  in the colors of the 5th Infantry Regiment Prinz Friedrich.

The maiden and the diary

Long time ago lived Lady Postit, a young, beautiful girl in the distant foreign land Blogsphere. She belonged to the clan McBlogger and every night she wrote her experiences of the day in her magical diary. Only this diary knew all her secrets, desires and aspirations.

French Line Infantry - ESCII 1/72

The next figure from three planned figures for a little vignette. The figure comes from the ESCII set 227 - French Line Infantry. I have tried here to present a uniform equipment from different stocks. At that time, according to my sources, there were problems to equip the soldiers uniform.  I've made a little conversion for the scene I've planned. I cut away both arms and glued it in a different position.

Here you can find the first of the three figures - the British 18th Hussar.

And while you look at the pictures, I am still painting and looking for the next figure.

German Tank Crewman - Tamiya 1/16

This is the next figure I've painted some time ago from the Tamiya World Figure Series in scale 1/16. It' s  a German Tank Crewman of WWII. The wooden base, the figure base, the plant and the shield with the description are made by my own.

Here you find a post about an other figure of the World Figure Series: German Infantryman

British 18th Hussar

This is the first of three figures that I have finished for a little vignette. It's a trooper of the British 18th Hussars. During the battle of Waterloo they belong together with the 10th Hussars and the 2nd KGL Hussars to the 5th British Brigade of General Major Sir H. Vivian.

The figure comes from the ESCI Set 230 British Light Dragoons. The scale is 1/72. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Here you find a post about a figure of a British Light Dragoon.

German Infantryman - Tamiya 1/16

While not finished new figures (I'm still painting) I show you an older work painted a few years ago.
I's an german elite infantryman from Tamiya in scale 1/16. I think the figure is well known, so that I can save myself any further description.
